BAER Testing

Well, it has been an experience to get these puppies BAER hearing tested. First appointment was made when they were just a couple days old. Learned the day before the test that our canine neurologist's BAER machine was broken. Called around to see about other testers and decided (for many, many reasons) that I would stick with our original tester. So we went on Thursday to be tested only to have questions on whether this equipment was working properly or not. So, we are traveling to the University of Pennsylvania to do this on Tuesday. Same tester, just different location and this equipment works (or so I hope!).....

But, while we tried to test the puppies, we got some good pictures. In case you ever wondered what it looked like to have puppies BAER tested, here you go. Enjoy!

PS. This is not painful for the puppies. There was no crying of fussing when everything was set up. No anesthesia was used on the puppies, everyone was pretty cooperative.

Puppy evaluations continue and I thought I'd share the latest pictures. I am very pleased with how these puppies are turning out. I think they are the best! (Just wanted to say that in case I haven't before. LOL!)

Getting Ready for Changes...

Well, I think it is time to move the puppies from the bedroom into another room in the house. They are getting bigger, and this will make it easier on me to continue to work with them. I think they will like the change and I think the resident dogs will enjoy it also.

Tomorrow will be spent re-arranging things again and moving dogs. This is more proof that I need a bigger house.

So the puppies are really developing personalities - one is more laid back, one is interested in cuddling, one is very animated, and one is very playful. All are very sweet and show confidence with each new experience.

In the last few days I've spent more time thinking about them moving to new homes. So many thoughts, so many emotions. I truly don't know how I will handle it. I just try to remember how excited I was when I got to bring home each of my dals...

Tonight is the CERF exam for the puppies. Odessa will also be examined to update her CERF certificate. (CERF certificates are valid for only one year.) I do not suspect it, but lets hope there is no ISD with the puppies.

Tomorrow is BAER testing so the puppies will get to visit with staff at our vet's office tomorrow. This should be another great experience for them since everyone loves puppy breath!

More puppy evaluations again this weekend and there will also be many new guests to help socialize the puppies. It is going to be a busy time, but it will be fun for all. I will do my best to get pictures and updates posted this weekend.
